A Crushing Experience

Join us September through October weekdays

Now's your chance to rise before dawn, slip on your overalls and join us in the vineyard hand picking (actually cutting the stems with a special curved knife) the grapes. It's very romantic starting in the cool of the dawn when all else is quiet but the early birds. But to pick grapes to fill a half ton bin over and over again is work. I'll talk to you about the grapes and answer every question I can. We'll shoot the breeze and commiserate about the heat, the pesky flying bugs and the perpetually sticky hands. When we're done, we'll sit and eat a fitting meal together and talk about what's to come in the winery.

Now the grapes must be processed. We'll run through all the steps of destemming, crushing , pumping into either the press (for whites and blush) or direct into the fermenters (for reds) and make ready for the main event - fermentation. We'll talk about every little detail if you want. And after we clean up and do our winery chores like punching the cap, etc., we'll be begin to wine down. Wash up, take a swim in the lap pool and report back for happy hour on the deck. We'll chat about the day, our soreness and wash down the dust with some great wines until we feel relaxed and ready to enjoy a fine healthy evening meal. You're welcomed to join us for 5 nights and 4 working days of winemaking bliss. And whether you aspire to make wine or decide afterwards not, you will forever remember those days and appreciate more fully each and every sip of wine to come.

Pick one of the weeks: the last two week of September or the first week of October. You check in on Sunday afternoon to the bed & breakfast room of your choice. Relax, swim, taste wine and eat with us and chat about the days ahead. And schedules change without warning due to weather and whether or not the grapes are at that perfect moment to pick. You participate in the work of winemaking as much as you want Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. But you can back off whenever you want and take a break or take the day off and go exploring. Its your experience. Upon completion of the 4 days, you'll be awarded a suitable for framing certificate authenticating your experience for all to see. You'll enjoy 5 dinners, 4 lunches, 4 continental breakfasts and on Friday morning a full breakfast at a more leisurely hour. Your own room with private bath for 5 nights and "A Crushing Experience" for $550 (*add $200 to include a second person in your room). $550 for one of our queen rooms or $650 for one of our suites*. We only have 5 rooms so the maximum number of participants will be 10 each week. Consider yourself a chosen one when you come join us. Guaranteed to be a most rewarding and memorable time.

There's another way to experience the Crush and that is to book a room during September and October on a weekday and just look over our shoulders and watch what goes on as we pick and process our grapes into wine. You can stay as long as you like and go exploring to the other wineries, eat at the areas fine restaurants and enjoy our pool and gorgeous view. The cost of this is simply to book one of our rooms. This would suffice for the mildly curious type.

We've been offering this 'Crushing Experience' for years. We look forward to sharing our 28 years experience with those of you that can join us. Pick the week and call us to book your 'Crushing Experience'. Call 800-245-9166; Diana or I will be happy to answer all your questions. Touted, "the most comfortable B&B" by many customers, our Bed & Breakfast accommodations at the Lodge are available year round. Family-owned and operated since our beginning. When you're talking to Brian or Diana Fitzpatrick, you're talking to the owners, innkeepers and winemaker.
